Hedgehogging Book 2006

This is the newest and most resent book on hedgehog written by Barton Biggs. The ones that I have listed are very early books. If you like me and like to have a whole library of all books then I didn't waste my time. Otherwise I recomend you to read this book.

"After 30 years as an manager and researcher with Morgan Stanlety, and 3 or 4 years as a "hedgehog" (a hedge fund manager), Barton Biggs give us this entertaining memoir of his professional life. Mostly consists of chapters profiling leading investment figures under fictional names. Really interesting to see how even the hottest, smartest, and most driven investors come to grief on a consistent basis; that includes the author himself, who confesses here to some of his mistakes such as shorting oil when it kept going up. Lots of sleepless nights and anxiety in the business, although apparently even the no-talent hacks can make at least 150K a year, and many of the more talented are billionaires. Many of the hotshots in the professional investing world sound like narcissistic cranks in Biggs' description, but entertaining cranks to read about. Like Lefevre's classic REMINISCENCES OF A STOCK OPERATOR, this is mainly interesting for its insights into the psychology of trading. In terms of practical knowledge, the main lesson here is "you're on your own." Even the smartest professionals consistently blow it. There are no magic formulas except knowledge, experience, and intelligence."

I will gladly look into reading it.

Hedgehog Books #2

The author Pat Storer's book is targeted more at pet owners.

Everything you wanted to know about hedgehogs, but you didn't know who to ask

While the original older one “Everything” is more oriented towards breeders. Both books cover areas to some extent, so a breeder can also find pet level information in “Everything”, while a pet owner looking for basics on breeding will find it in cute hedgehog pictures

The most essential thing both books offer is a reference section on hedgehog health, body chemistry norms, and drugs that have been safely used to treat hedgehog illness. Taking one of these books with you to a vet in time of emergency could easily be a life saving act.

Books about your hedgehog pet #1

With the increasing popularity of hedgehogs, more books are now available. Compared to most other animals, there are still seems to be little information on hedgehogs. Worst of all, many books contain outdated information. In spring 1997 two new books became available that made all the previous offerings obsolete. One was written by Dawn Wrobel and Dr. Susan Brown,

The Hedgehog: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet

This is a great book, and one that no hedgehog owner should be without. Dr. Susan Brown is more than worth the price for her medical chapter in this book. Book offers great tips, ideas and great knowledge, accompanied by some fantastic cute hedgehog pictures.

The other great book published by Sharon Massena with Bryan Smith is

The Pygmy Hedgehog - A Perfect Pet

This book is quite a find, it is rare and unique.

Hedgehog Pet

Hedgehog Pet
We got a lot of needles on the back and people adore us for it. Usually if we reside in someone's house, we love to sniff and walk around by every corner. Sorry for walking all night long and making Pshhhh Pshhhhh noise all over your home, but that's the way we are and you love us for it ^.^
To make our owner happy we can hide into his shoe and look much cuter than other animals. Just don't step on me. I'm small, but I can sting.Compared to other animals, people see us just like on the picture above. Do you see me the same way?Ohh, one more thing. We do love cats. However, the problem lies in cats themself. Everytime we come by to say Hi! They get all PSHHHH and scared. So cats run away and pee all over their owner's place. I don't know why they see a toilet in every corner, but it doesn't have any relation to us.

Oh, by the way, just in case you own a cat like this, I could help you out. Cats are pretty stuborn but they can be taught. There is a great book. Here is the link! Too bad there are no great books like this one for us - hedgehogs! I would love to own one. Interesting what people would write about us!

McFlurry Hedgehog?

"Taken from Canadian Press Article." Sonic The Hedgehog
Published: Friday, September 01, 2006
LONDON (AP) - Fast food just became hedgehog-friendly.

McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD) said Friday it had redesigned the cups for its McFlurry dessert so that they no longer posed a danger to the spiky woodland creatures.

T
he British Hedgehog Preservation Society has campaigned for years against the containers, saying hedgehogs had died while trying to eat leftover ice cream from discarded cups. Campaigners said the opening in the lid was large enough for hedgehogs to stick their heads in, but not to get them out again, and that animals not rescued by passers-by had died of starvation.

McDonald's U.K. said that after "significant research and testing," it designed a McFlurry cup with a smaller opening. McDonald's began deliveries of the new lids to restaurants in Britain last week.

"The smaller aperture of the lid has been designed to prevent hedgehogs from entering the McFlurry container in the unfortunate incidence that a lid is littered and is then accessible to wildlife," the company said in a statement.

Fay Vass, chief executive of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, said the change was "excellent, if long overdue news." She said the new cups meant "many hedgehog lives will be saved."
